“Tots som Catalunya”, w języku katalońskim: “Wszyscy jesteśmy Katalonią” – głoszą plakaty przy bazylice Sagrada Família w sercu Katalonii – Barcelonie, zwanej po katalońsku “Różą Ognia”. Złoto-czerwona feeria barw flag Katalonii oplata budynki okalające będącą w budowie od XIX wieku Świątynię Pokutną Świętej Rodziny. Budowę przerwała śmierć głównego projektanta – Gaudiego, ale także hiszpańska wojna domowa. Alegorycznie to Katalonia ciągle jest w budowie, jak jej słynna bazylika i cały czas stara się określić jaka ma być jej przyszłość.

“Tots som Catalunya”, in Catalan: “We are all Catalonia” – posters at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família in the heart of Catalonia – Barcelona, called the Catalan “Rose of Fire”. The red-and-red feathered flag of Catalonia wraps the buildings surrounding the 19th-century penitentiary house of the Holy Family. The construction was interrupted by the death of the main designer – Gaudi, but also the Spanish civil war. Allegedly, Catalonia is still under construction, like its famous basilica and is constantly trying to determine what its future should be.

Jak mówi jeden z Katalończyków: “Historia się powtarza.”

Katalonia była w średniowieczu związana unią z Aragonią. Flagi Katalonii są wzorem i kontynuacją wzoru herbu królestwa Aragonii i Hrabstwa Barcelony, według średniowiecznego zawołania królewskiego – “W złotym polu, cztery kije czerwieni”. Takie flagi oraz podobne z dodanym niebieskim trójkątem i białą gwiazdą (pro-rewolucyjne lub nacjonalistyczne), a ponadto kolorowe ze słowem Si! (“Tak!” – w referendum) i inne, rozwieszone są na balkonach i oknach domów niemal w całej Barcelonie.

As one of the Catalans says, “History repeats itself.” Catalonia was in the Middle Ages bound by union with Aragon. The flags of Catalonia are the pattern and continuation of the coat of arms of the kingdom of Aragon and the Province of Barcelona, according to the medieval king’s call – “In the golden field, four sticks of red.” According to another theory referring to the flag of 1112, they are the golden scepter on the red background symbolizing the integrated counties of Barcelona, Besalú (annexed in 1111), near Andorra, forming together the Duchy of Catalonia and Provence, in present-day France. Such flags and alike with the added blue triangle and white star (pro-revolutionary or nationalist), and more colorful with the word Si! (“Yes!” – in the referendum) and others, are posted on the balconies and windows of houses almost throughout Barcelona.

Ponadto, jest to już piąta próba samostanowienia Katalonii, stworzenia Republiki Katalonii lub Państwa Katalonii: w 1640, 1873, 1931, 1934 oraz 27 października 2017 roku – przez parlament kataloński jako Republika Katalońska (República Catalana) poza Królestwem Hiszpanii. Tego dnia, Parlament Kataloński (Parlament de Catalunya) przyjął rezolucję – Deklarację Niepodległości Katalonii, co było poprzedzone referendum 1.10.2017 roku.

Zwolennicy utworzenia nowego państwa są stonowani i spokojni. Oto ich przykładowe wypowiedzi:

In addition, it is already the fifth attempt at self-determination of Catalonia, the creation of the Republic of Catalonia or the State of Catalonia: in 1640, 1873, 1931, 1934 and 27 October 2017 – by the Catalan parliament as the Republic of Catalonia (República Catalana) outside the Kingdom of Spain. Początki Barcelońskiej Giełdy Papierów Wartościowych sięgają czasów średniowiecza, kiedy to w Katalonii pojawiły się sklepy handlowe i miała miejsce rewolucja handlowa.

W 1271 r. Ogłoszono “Ordynacje”, które stanowią najbardziej kompletny i najstarszy tekst regulacji postaci pośrednictwa kupieckiego. Skandal!” wykrzykuje uniesiony, ubrany na czarno, w kaszkiecie i z laską senior blisko dziewięćdziesiątki. Wszyscy z nich czują się Katalończykami i mówią po katalońsku. Czy łączy ich głos rozsądku?

Nieco dalej, blisko 15 km za Barceloną już trudno znaleźć flagę katalońską, przynajmniej tam gdzie mieszkają obcokrajowcy albo przyjezdni z innych regionów, np. z Andaluzji.

Dla nich ważny jest spokój w regionie, a zatem jego dobra sytuacja ekonomiczna, aby móc pracować i zarabiać. Oni także są przeciwko niepodległości Katalonii. Młody Ślązak mieszka i pracuje tu już ponad dziesięć lat i mówi, że “Nie wiadomo jak to się dalej potoczy”, “Oby się wszystko jakoś ułożyło” i nadmienia, że sytuacja źle wpływa na turystykę.
